The WINDMILLS of SAAREMAA 
This homepage gives an overview of the windmills on Saaremaa island (also known with its german name Oesel). In the past there existed over 1200 windmills on Saaremaa. These windmills were owned mainly by peasants. In Saaremaa exists 3 types of windmills - postmills, so-called windmills "with head" and dutch windmills. Nowadays there are still some windmills left on Saaremaa, but this looks only as a wreckage park compared to the great era of windmills - the time, when every respected peasant or farmer had his own windmill.

- See koduleht annab ülevaate Saaremaa (saksakeelse nimega Oesel) tuuleveskitest. Vanasti oli Saaremaal üle 1200 tuuliku. Need tuulikud kuulusid peamiselt talupoegadele. Saaremaal on 3 tüüpi tuulikuid - pukktuulikud, nn peaga tuulikud ja hollandi-tüüpi tuulikud.
